Conservation Agriculture (CA) aims to achieve sustainable and profitable agriculture improving livelihoods of farmers through the application of the three CA principles:

     1.     Minimal soil disturbance,

     2.     Permanent soil cover and

     3.     Crop rotations and/or intercropping.

CA holds tremendous potential for all sizes of farms and agro-ecological systems, but its adoption is perhaps most urgently required by smallholder farmers, especially those facing acute labour shortages. It is a way to combine profitable agricultural production with environmental concerns and sustainability. It has been perceived by practitioners as a valid tool for Sustainable Land Management (SLM).

To allow the national dissemination of CA in Lesotho, the following training materials have been developed by the Lesotho National Conservation Agriculture task force (all available both in English and Sesotho):
  • Posters
  • Photo Guide
  • Handouts
  • Power Point Presentation
  • TV Clips
  • Radio Clips
  • Promotional CA calendar
